About counselling at St Albans Counselling Centre

Who we are

Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore problems with someone not involved in your personal life who is trained to listen in a non-directive, non-judgemental way.

St Albans Counselling Centre was established in 1976 and affiliated to the Westminster Pastoral Foundation.  Since 1984, St Albans Counselling Centre has been a constituent member of the Herts & Beds Counselling Foundation, itself a registered charity with trustees nominated from various bodies within the community.  St Albans Counselling Centre is also a member of the wpf counselling network, the largest national network of counselling centres in the UK.
All our counsellors undertake rigorous training and adhere to the BACP’s “Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy”.  Our policy on confidentiality within the service also conforms to this.
As a member of HBCF, St Albans Counselling Centre is a BACP accredited service.

What we offer

Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore problems with someone not involved in your personal life who is trained to listen in a non-directive, non-judgemental way and may facilitate your own resources for change and resolution of difficulties.  Counselling aims to assist people understand how past experiences may be linked to current behaviour and then to enable them to cope better with unwanted thoughts and feelings.  It allows thoughts and feelings about oneself and relationships with others to be explored in an individual or couple setting.
The initial session is with a senior counsellor with a comprehensive knowledge of our service.  Counselling may then continue with one of the Centre’s counsellors.
Weekly sessions last 50 minutes and take place Mondays to Fridays between 8.30am and 8.30pm.
