FAQs

Where are you located?

SACC is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes everyone (over 18) without discrimination of race, class, culture, gender, marital status, physical ability or sexual orientation.Central St Albans.

How do I make an appointment?

St Albans Counselling Centre operates an appointments only system. Our usual practice is to ask you to register with our service, then an Initial Consultation appointment is sent to you, clearly stating date, time and name of the counsellor.

How long will I have to wait?

Waiting times do vary according to pressure on our resources. However, we make every effort to make appointments as quickly as we are able.

Will the same counsellor always be available?

The first session is an initial consultation with a senior counsellor with a comprehensive knowledge of the service the Centre offers. This session will last between 1¼ and 1½ hours. Counselling may then continue with one of the Centre’s Counsellors.

How frequent are the counselling sessions?

Sessions are held weekly for 50 mins each. Once your weekly appointment time has been agreed with you, we will keep this time and this counsellor available to you. To enable us to maintain your appointment time for the duration of your counselling, all missed sessions are chargeable except those cancelled by your counsellor.

How much does it cost?

We are a non-profit making organisation, and clients are asked to pay what they can reasonably afford. We operate a sliding scale of fees, based on income, which will be fully explained to you at the first meeting.

Is it confidential?

The confidentiality of the relationship between the client and St Albans Counselling Centre is fully protected. All counsellors are bound by the BACP confidentiality guidelines.

Does my age, race or religion matter?

SACC is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes everyone (over 18) without discrimination of race, class, culture, gender, marital status, physical ability or sexual orientation.

Is there disabled access?

Although SACC does not have wheelchair access to our building in Dagnall Street, we can arrange for disabled clients to be seen at other local consulting rooms with appropriate amenities, or at the Dunstable and Luton Counselling Centre.
